You can also design your own sheep on pc mac or linux using http://www.apophysis.org/downloads.html - where you can find the tool, the source code and bunch of tutorials to get you started. Other tools are available on electricsheep.org.

Mixxx - an open source DJ software |
Mixxx is an open source Dj software that enables you to perform live mixes. Supported by the all the big OS out there - Windows, OSX, Linux it makes it a really cool addition for starting DJs to experienced ones. Here is a list of some of the MIXXX features that impressed us: Parallel waveform displays, Pitch-independent time stretch, Vinyl emulation, BPM detection, Multichannel soundcard support (playback and capture), Multi-core CPU support. The software reads mp3, ogg, wave and flac. Advanced users will enjoy the comprehensive MIDI controller support, vinyl control (Use your turntables with timecoded vinyl to control Mixxx), and multi-core CPU support that makes the software run smooth and producing a virtually crystal sound on any newer computer.
Being open source means that you can dive and tweak the software the way you like it.

Convert Your Images to music |
Even though this may not be something that might have happened today I was so excited when I first tried Coagula, that I decided to share it and to put it on the first page. Coagula is an Image Synth, that means that it can convert your image to sounds. You can load any image and tweak it with the software - even though it is hard to get an expected result, I would say it is amazing playing with the program. It gives a new perspective on the way you look at sound and at music too. We all know that music is mathematic and the tones are waves with different length - we know it but seeing is believing. There are special tools that give you even more creative power over how the final sound is going to be.
The version is under development so bugs are possible. The program includes some bitmaps and on the page there is a quick tutorial to get you started. |
